What are Promoters?
Promoters for St. Paul of the Cross Retreat Center are volunteers who give of their time and abilities to aid in promoting the mission of the Passionists within their local parish communities. They do this by spearheading promotion of the variety of events held at the center throughout the year, as well as by encouraging their fellow parishioners to attend a dedicated retreat weekend with the men and women of their parish. Though all men and women from all parishes are welcome to attend any men’s or women’s weekend, respectively, we encourage promoters to select a particular weekend from our retreat schedule for their parish to attend as a group, building a connection between their church community and St Paul of the Cross Retreat Center. Through this ministry, promoters help to foster connections both within their local parish and, on a broader scale, among the various parishes of the diocese. This work allows the charism of the Passionists, calling for solidarity with our “crucified God, crucified people, and crucified earth” to resonate throughout the Church at large and further bolsters St Paul of the Cross Retreat Center’s ability to flourish as a community-building resource within the city of Pittsburgh.
Concretely, promoters are invited to attend group promoters’ meetings [quarterly] and receive regular emails with information about the upcoming work of the retreat center. Promotion can include actions like working with your pastor to spread the word to fellow parishioners, sending event and retreat information to your bulletin/website editors for distribution, and serving at your parish’s retreat weekend as a resource for attendees from your parish in navigating their time with us. We appreciate all of the work that our promoters do in sharing the generous hospitality of Christ with all through your service to St. Paul of the Cross Retreat Center!

Saint Paul of the Cross Retreat Center is a spiritual facility in the Catholic tradition continuing the spiritual legacy of Saint Paul of the Cross, founder of the Passionists. We welcome all who desire to deepen their relationship with God and with one another by proclaiming the Love of Jesus Crucified, as we share his healing, reconciling, and redeeming message. We foster this through our weekend retreats, special spiritual programs and workshops, and hosted events, in prayerful and peaceful surroundings.
